Frequently asked questions
How is this different from an uptime monitor?
An uptime monitor tells you a URL responded. Shopcheck drives a real browser through the buyer journey — browse, product, add to cart, checkout — and tells you whether somebody could still buy something. The point is to catch a broken cart before a real customer does.
Will Shopcheck change anything in my store?
No. Checks are read-only: they load pages and read Admin API data, and Shopcheck asks for no write permissions on your store.
Will my monitors place real orders?
Not unless you build a journey that does. The usual pattern is browse, product, add to cart, open checkout, and assert the checkout page loaded with the right line item — which covers the whole path where breakage happens and stops before it creates data you have to clean up.
Why did my check start failing after a theme change?
Usually a selector no longer matches. Open the failing step, look at its screenshot, and check whether Shopcheck has proposed a replacement selector — it re-scans the page and suggests one for approval rather than applying it silently.
How do I stop being paged for a single timeout?
Raise the failure threshold on that monitor. An incident opens only after the number of consecutive failures you choose, and closes after the number of consecutive passes you choose. You can also set quiet hours per store and a severity per monitor.
Is my data secure?
Everything runs on Cloudflare — checks at the edge, browser journeys in Cloudflare Browser Rendering, data in D1 and R2. Screenshots and recordings capture whatever was on the page, so use test data in journey steps rather than real customer details. Webhook alerts are signed with HMAC so you can verify they came from us.
Am I billed per check?
No. Shopcheck is a fixed monthly plan billed through Shopify, and extra advanced monitors are a flat monthly add-on — there is no per-check, per-browser-minute or per-screenshot charge. Each plan includes browser minutes for buyer journeys (450 on Essential, 750 on Growth, 1,500 on Scale); uptime, content and store-data checks never use them, and heartbeats are free.
How do I cancel?
Uninstall the app from your Shopify admin, or change plan from the Billing page. Uninstalling revokes access immediately and no further checks run. No long-term commitments.
